Kamalamma: A 60 years old woman, has put the general store in her village in Sulthanpur, she is accepted well and respected by all the people in that area. She hails from a poor family, married at the early age and has three children. She has brought up the family with difficulty.
But after joining the self help group under the Carmel Seva Trust, she took a lot of interest to save money and opened the shop with the help of Rs.20,000/- loan taken from the Carmel Sevat Trust. Now though she is sick and her husband paralysed, she is confident that whatever she get in this store is enough to maintain her family.
2. Sathayamma: A 65 years old, from Sulthanpur, hails from a poor family and her husband had a fall from the tree. Because of financial problem they could not treat him and so he is not normal at present. Yet this woman lived with this man, brought up eight children out of whom three got married and others are working.
Before joining the SHG she had only one goat and had difficulty to give good education and proper food to her children. At that time she met the Social Workers of Carmel Seva Trust to whom she shared her problems. The social workers suggested to her to take micro loan from Carmel Seva Trust. She took the initiative and got the loan to buy another goat. After working tirelessly for few years, she is now happy for she is able to run the family through this animal husbandry.
