A vocational training workshop for male inmates was inaugurated by the Carmel Seva Trust at the district jail in the city on 19th February 2024.
Sister Christine Misquith, the Coordinator of Carmel Seva Trust, inaugurated the workshop and said that the prisoners are put behind the bars for doing wrong knowing or unknowingly. Once they are released they should lead a better life. They should learn a skill which will help them to earn their livelihood. For this purpose we have introduced electrical and plumbing course. This was possible because of Father Mathew, the Principal of Don Bosco ITI College who agreed to send his staff to conduct these courses.
The Chief Superintendent Dattatreya Meda and TN Bhajantri, the Jailor said prison inmates should use this free opportunity for a better quality of life.
