Associate Director’s Message
Each individual person and every community and Family, is called to be an instrument of God for the liberation and promotion of the poor. "Pope Francis, The joy of the Gospel, 2013, Man is created in God's image and likeness says the author of Genesis. Persons are compared to gifts, which come in various types of wrappers, and it is said that once in a while there are 'special deliveries'. In a similar vein, there could be damage in 'transit'. When this happens, God's likeness or giftedness gets blurred on the journey of life. This can happen to individuals, groups, tribes, races, sexes etc. and can be caused accidentally or deliberately by humans, situations or other factors.
Whatever be the reason that causes helplessness or powerlessness of people in this disadvantaged situation, people need others to help them or empower them. In Christian terminology, they need 'Saviors, to redeem them from the so called marginalized situation. All of us have ample opportunities to empower others in our own communities, work place, and society and in the world. Anyone who wants to empower others has to be empowered by the love of God and His mission.
Only a contemplative can be sensitively aware of others feelings, needs and wants, listen with ones whole being and say yes to others and that means saying yes to society. The key to effectiveness in this field as in any other has always been the willingness to pay the price which is the result of total commitment. Most of our strategies are of no consequence unless we are set ablaze by the fire of the Holy Spirit, the burning zeal to make a difference in the milieu in which we live in. By the name Carmel Seva Trust which would monitor the actives for the poor and the neglected specially the differently able adults.
We thank God for the opportunity given to us by saying “O HIDDEN LIFE vibrant in every atom of the campus of Veronica Vihar, O HIDDEN LIGHT shinning in every Differently Abled person, O HIDDEN LOVE that helped us, the Apostolic Carmel Sisters of the Karnataka Province, under Carmel Seva Trust, to embrace the least and the lost, we feel one with you as we realize that you are also in those human beings who are deprived of some of your final touches”.
