Inauguration of Computer Training Program at Bidar District Prison
On August 5, 2024, the Bidar district prison launched a computer training program for male inmates. Superintendent Dattatreya Medh and Jailer T.B. Bajentri highlighted the program's value and urged inmates to embrace the opportunity. Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute's Fathers Sony and Matthew, and Sister Maria Reetha of Carmel Seva Trust, also spoke, encouraging enthusiasm and positive learning. The inaugural batch consists of 15 inmates.
Rakhi Celebration at Bidar District Prison
Bidar, Aug 23, 2024: The Bidar district prison celebrated Raksha Bandhan, organized by the Carmel Seva Trust. Dr. Joyce highlighted the festival's significance, emphasizing its role in symbolizing the protection of sisters and family well-being. Father Clary D'Souza prayed for the inmates' reform and social bonding, framing Raksha Bandhan as a celebration of social ties. Sister Maria Reetha from the Carmel Seva Trust encouraged inmates to protect and respect women. The event was attended by 92 inmates and 4 police staff.
Inauguration & Valedictory Programme:
On July 18, 2024, Carmel Seva Trust Bidar Unit hosted an inauguration ceremony for tailoring classes and a certificate distribution program. Twenty-two women successfully completed their courses, and twelve new admissions were welcomed. Saharza Begum, sharing her life experience as a successful tailor, served as the resource person. Sr. Maria Reetha encouraged the participants to continue learning and embrace creativity. Mrs. Sunitha Sharanappa, the tailoring teacher, facilitated the event.
